Twenty five minutes scenic flight from Kathmandu (capital city of Nepal) to Small village of Lukla will take you at the beginning point of this trek followed by 2 days trek leading to small tourist town of Namche which gives you the first sight of Giant Mt Everest along with many other high Mountains.
Further trek through Khumbu Valley brings you at the dreamland of Everest Base Camp located at the height of 5363 mtrs, a challenging hike up to the top of Kalapatthar will give you the best bird eye view of Mt Everest. Here is the day to day Itinerary for Everest Base Camp trek also called EBC Trek:
Day 01: Arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. Meet Airport Representative and transfer to hotel on car/bus/van/taxi as arranged.
Day 02: Morning flight (25 min) to Lukla 2860 m, Breakfast at Lukla and trek to Phakding. (2610mtrs), moderate day walk 4 hours through village, forest and riverbank
Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m). Walk through village and forest 0600 hours via Tok Tok, Monjo (National Park Permit Check Post) and Jorsale. Glimpse of Thamsherku Mountain and also Mt. Everest if the weather is clear. Last 2 hrs walk will be the toughest uphill walk
Day 04: Acclimatization day at Namche Bazzar. Walk up to Everest View Hotel, 2 hours, back to Namche , free evening for shopping, internet, money exchange etc.
Day 05: Trek to Tengboche(3860mtr) 5 hrs., walk through village , stream and forest, here the main route to Base Camp splits up with another famous route to Gokyo lake trekking, lunch at Phortse Tanga on the river bank, last 2 hrs tough uphill until the hotel, visit around Tengboche Monastery, watch a short slideshow in a small eco-home theater if you are interested
Day 06: Trek up to Dingboche (4410m). Walk through Pangboche village 5:30 hours, beautiful view of Amadublum, Tamsherku etc , easy day
Day 07: Acclimatization day at Dinboche. hike up to Chhukung 4:25 hours, eat lunch there if you want, back to Dingboche, crucial Night in terms of High Altitude Symptoms, there is a clinic at next village Pheriche if you want to check your health condition
Day 08: Trek to Lobuche (4910m) through Deboche (suitable for Lunch Place), easy morning, one hr. uphill after lunch, walk through the valley until Tea House at Lobuche , total 5:30 hours walk
Day 09 : Trek to Gorak Shep 5153 mtrs, 0230 hrs walk, Lunch Break, continue walk to EBC(5363m), 0230 hrs, there you are, back to Gorakshep(5153m). Sleep at Gorakshep, toughest day approx. 0730 hrs walk.
Day 10: Early morning around 0500 am hike up to Kalapathar (5545mtrs), 2 hrs, view sunrise over Mt. Everest back to hotel, breakfast and trek down to Pheriche, 5 hours
Day 11: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m). Walking 6:30 hours, O/N at guest house, longest day walk but excitement for warmer weather, bigger village, good hot shower and food
Day 12: Trek down to Lukla (2840m).Last day walk, lunch break at Phakding, Walking 6:30 hours, Last evening at Lukla, celebrate last dinner with guide and porters
Day 13: Morning Flight to Kathmandu, 30 minutes, weather sometimes can postpone your flight for indefinite time, 2 days buffer time is recommended
Day 14: Sightseeing in Kathmandu. Monkey Temple (Buddhist Monastery), Pashupatinath Temple (Hindu Temple, Bouddhanath, Patan durbar Square and Kathmandu Durbar Square, back to Thamel, Free Evening for Shopping, dining.
Day 15: Fly back to your country or next destination.
